The Zerg are an extraterrestrial race in the real-time strategy (RTS) games, StarCraft, and its sequel, StarCraft II. The species is insectoid in appearance, and composed of various warrior strains which act as combat units. The Zerg race as a whole is often referred to as "The Swarm."
