Vielsalm is a Walloon municipality located in the Belgian province of Luxembourg. On 1 January 2007 the municipality had 7,339 inhabitants. The total area is 139.76 km², giving a population density of 52.5 inhabitants per km². Vielsalm (meaning "old Salm", to distinguish it from a newer settlement that was later abandoned) takes its name from that of the River Salm. It is the place of origin of the princely House of Salm.
