Orofino ("fine gold" [ore] in Spanish) is a city in Clearwater County, Idaho, along the Clearwater River. The population was 3,247 at the 2000 census. The city is the county seat of Clearwater County. Near present-day Orofino at Canoe Camp, the Lewis and Clark expedition built five new dugout canoes and embarked on October 7 1805.
