Heterozostera is a genus of seagrasses which contain four species. Heterozostera are aquatic herbs which are completely submerged in marine environments. Three species are found in Australia; Heterozostera tasmanica is found in shores of Tasmania and the Eastern states. H. nigricaulis is widely distributed in temperate waters, and H. polychlamys is confined to western and southern coasts.
