A gorsedd (in English) plural gorseddau, is a community or coming together of modern-day bards. The word means "throne" in Welsh. It is occasionally spelled gorsedh (especially in Cornwall), or goursez in Brittany. When the term is used without qualification, it usually means the national gorsedd of Wales, Gorsedd Beirdd Ynys Prydain Gorsedd y Beirdd (Welsh: "the Gorsedd of Bards of the Island of Britain").
