Barangaroo was the wife of the famous Australian Aborigine Bennelong. Barangaroo was a determined and independent Cadigal woman who, history books suggest, disliked the invading Europeans and was totally opposed to Bennelong's "conciliatory efforts with the invaders and Governor Phillip".
