My first job in computing (in the early 1980s) was designing communication systems for disabled people. These comprised simple input devices (with sometimes only a single key) and smart software to interpret them.
     Later on I moved into publishing and worked for many of the UK's top computer magazines where I had assorted roles ranging from Editorial Assistant, through Deputy Editor, Features Editor, Promotions Coordinator and Cover Disc Editor. Among other projects the UK company broadcast the world's first fully licensed Internet radio station, while The US company specialised mainly in e-commerce and database back-ends.
     With the Internet's coming of age I started two companies: one in Ashford, Kent (UK), and the other in Pasadena, California (US).

     I am also the author of several books on computing and a number of publications for companies such as the UK's Channel 4 TV and the Department of Trade and Industry (now called the Department for Business).
     I have been featured on a number of TV and radio programs (both in the UK and the US) and now work full time as a freelance writer. I am the author of the best selling title Learning PHP, MySQL & JavaScript and a number of other computer books. My latest book, called Ubuntu: Up and Running, is now published.
     I have recently completed the third book in the Plug-in series, Plug-in CSS, (The others being Plug-in PHP and Plug-in javaScript), and am currently working on HTML5 for iOS and Android, a book that will show how to make professional web sites and downloadable apps (that you can sell in the App stores) for Apple and Google mobile devices and phones.
     In a new departure, I have also started work on Creative Visualization For Dummies, and will complete it after the HTML5 book is finished. Hopefully this will be the first in a line of motivational books, as I have a lot more to say on the subject.

A note to users of totallyexplained.com, eclgy.com and some other sites. I'm sorry but since the server they were on failed I
have decided not to restore them because they took up too much of my time, which I really need to develop my book writing.
