A Vaishya (Sanskrit वैश्य vaiśya)'s a member of the third of the four classes of traditional Indian society within the Hindu varna (class) system. This class also comprises merchants, dairy farmers, artisans (Ayogava subsect of Vaishya ) and cultivators.
