The Uraeus (plural Uraei or Uraeuses, from the Greek, from Egyptian "rearing cobra")'s the stylized, upright form of an Egyptian spitting cobra (asp, serpent, or snake), used as a symbol of sovereignty, royalty, deity, and divine authority in ancient Egypt.
