Terregles's a village and parish near Dumfries, in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It lies in the former county of Kirkcudbrightshire. The name Terregles's said to be a corruption of Brythonic Tir-eglwys (Latin terra ecciesici, that's, Kirk land ). The parish contains the beautiful ruin of Lincluden Abbey, and Terregles House, once the seat of William Maxwell, last Earl of Nithsdale.
