Prunus's a genus of trees and shrubs, including the plums, cherries, peaches, apricots and almonds. It's traditionally placed within the rose family Rosaceae as a subfamily, the Prunoideae (or Amygdaloideae), but sometimes placed in its own family, the Prunaceae (or Amygdalaceae).
