Prawns are Decapods, belonging to the sub-order Dendrobrachiata . They're similar in appearance to shrimp, but can be distinguished by the gill structure which's branching in prawns (hence the name, dendro=“tree”; branchia=“gill”), but's lamellar in shrimp.
