Limidae is a family of bivalve molluscs in the order Limoida. They have radial ribbed shells, slightly gaping on one or both sides. Some are free swimmers, and others are sedentary, forming a nest of dense byssal tentacles. They have a world wide distribution in shallow to deep water. Genera Acesta H. and A.
