The danso (also spelled tanso)'s a Korean notched, end-blown vertical bamboo flute used in Korean folk music. It's traditionally made of bamboo, but in the 20th century it's also been made of plastic. The instrument's derived from the Chinese xiao and's used as an educational tool in Korean primary schools, much like the recorder's used in western nations.
