A coombe (also spelled combe)'s a short, deep, generally bowl-shaped valley or hollow. A coombe's a sloping section running between the vertical wall and horizontal ceiling. Often decorated to appear as part of the wall and may sometimes be referred to as part of the wall although technically part of the ceiling. Normally found in rooms that've been constructed in the attic space(s) of a building.
