The Caspians or Caspis were ancient people dwelling along the southwestern shore of the Caspian Sea. The Caspians have generally been regarded as a pre-Indo-European people and have even been identified by some scholars with the Kassites, who spoke a language without a genetic relationship to any other known tongue.
