Amnon ("faithful"), according to the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, was the eldest son of David, king of Israel, with his wife, Ahinoam. Besides being the heir-apparent to David's throne, Amnon's best remembered for the rape of his half-sister Tamar, which lead to his death by order of Absalom, his half-brother and Tamar's full brother.
