Abakan (; Khakass: Ағбан)'s the capital city of the Republic of Khakassia in Russia, in South Siberia. It's located in the central part of Minusinsk Depression, at the confluence of the Yenisei and Abakan Rivers, at approximately the same latitude as Hamburg and Minsk. Population: 159,000(1994 est.).
